PArt DEUX

With the end of filming begins the start of a new phase.

On Mother’s day weekend, we held the film’s first audio recording session at Mothership Studios in San Francisco.

The voice to record was Greg, the young boy who becomes a bug, played by Jackson, an exiting 8th grader. He captured lines in varying phases of his metamorphosis in the film. With Douglas coaching him, he experimented with manipulating his voice to create unique sounds. Jackson was the consummate professional. He arrived ready to work and offered us perfect takes that kept the session moving along.

The experience was led by Danny Bozella, composer for the Metamorphosis and an engineer at Mothership and Nexus Studio in Oakland. Danny has been involved in the project since its early pre-production phase. Our smooth Sunday session was in large part due to his expertise and collaborative relationship with our director.

Jackson’s parents were at the recording as they have been throughout this entire process. It is amazing to witness their support. Jackson’s father has been an extra on a couple key shoots. His mother Jill has been to nearly every shoot, offered critical advice and support to our campaign, and adds a bright tone to the production environment.

We couldn’t have asked for a better kick off to what I am calling Production Part Two. Thankfully, scheduling hasn’t been too chaotic. We need to schedule six actors for at least three more recording sessions.

Mid-July, we hope to have all the final elements in the cut and be ready to submit to festivals in the fall. We’re very excited and eager as we move into this new phase and appreciate all the work and camaraderie that has brought us here.
